The SCC Library has over 80,000 books, 200,000 electronic books, and a large collection of audiobooks and streaming videos. You can search the library's collection using the search box on the library home page at www.stchas.edu/library. E-books can be accessed online and downloaded to most devices.
Current students, faculty and staff can request books from over 75 academic and public libraries through MOBIUS, a shared catalog of over 29 million titles. In order to request from MOBIUS, you will need your SCC ID number. Requested books typically arrive in 3 to 4 business day. You are contacted through your SCC email when your book is available for check out.
Articles or books that are not available through the SCC Library or MOBIUS can be requested from other libraries through Interlibrary Loan (ILL), using this form. For more information or additional assistance, please visit libguides.stchas.edu/periodicals/ill or email ill@stchas.edu.
Books are checked out for 4 weeks. DVDs and CDs are checked out for 10 days.
You may renew a book, CD, or DVD through the "Renew Your Material" link on the library home page or by calling the Circulation Desk at (636) 922-8434 or by visiting the library.
Current students, faculty and staff have unlimited renewals on SCC material unless a hold has been placed. MOBIUS materials may be renewed twice for 4 weeks each. Community users have one renewal unless a hold has been placed on the material.
Often instructors will provide us with a copy of a textbook or other course material to hold on Reserve so that it will be available to their students to check out to use in the library. If your instructor has placed something for you on Reserve, you will need to go to the Circulation Desk to check out the material. Make sure you have an ID with you to check it out. Typically items are in-library use only, meaning that you will have to read/watch the material in the library. The standard check-out time for Reserve material is 2 hours.
eBooks (and audiobooks) are incorporated into our library catalog. When you do a search you can filter your results on the left-side of the screen to only show "eBooks." (see image below) These titles are coming from our Overdrive collection and our eBooks from EBSCO collection (both of which can be searched independently). We also have some online reference books through the Gale Virtual Reference Library, and some nursing eBooks through Ovid.
E-books can be accessed online and downloaded to most devices. When using our Overdrive collection we recommend downloading the Libby app for easy access to material.
