One way of utilizing the search tool in Google Scholar is by adjusting your preferences to connect to the St. Charles Community College Library. This will allow you to discover articles from databases our library specifically subscribes to. This can be done by clicking on the "hamburger" or three lined icon in the upper left corner, and clicking on Settings. From there, you will click on Library Links, where you can then enter "St. Charles Community College" into the search bar. Be sure to click save before exiting the page.
There are different features displayed in the search of a Google Scholar article that can be helpful and useful to you and your research. To the right of the article there may be a "Full Text@SCC Library" link that you can click to see if SCC has full-text access to the article you're looking for. Below is the "Cited by" button, which you can click to see other authors who have cited that article. If you click "Related articles," you will be taken to other articles that are similar in subject matter.
Use the Advanced Search function to get more specific in your searching. You can use Boolean Operators (AND, NOT, OR) and other search strategies as a way of enhancing your searches.
If you want articles published a certain year, you can limit your search by selecting "Custom range."
Click "Since year" to limit your search to only recently published articles.
