OER Tools: Documentation for Instructors
Here you will find links to documentation for different tools which can be used in the creation of open educational resources (OER) and/or the implementation of open educational practices (OEP). This document is organized by use case, and features an alphabetical index where additional details about each tool (documentation, use cases, and difficulty scales) are provided.
Open Education Network - OER Publishing Toolkit
This toolkit is a collection of adaptable templates and resources for OER publishing programs. It’s organized chronologically by publishing phase, and was informed by participants in an open textbook worksprint that the Open Education Network hosted at the Library Publishing Forum in 2019 (updated March 2023). More resources are available in the Pub101 Curriculum.
OEN Open Textbook Publishing Orientation (PUB 101)
Pub101 is a friendly orientation to open textbook publishing. It is designed for people, typically librarians, who support faculty in creating open textbooks. With Pub101 we want to help you anticipate some common issues, and offer guidance learned from experience.
You're welcome to move through the Pub101 curriculum asynchronously. In addition, the Open Education Network offers a synchronous experience. Join us to be part of an informal Pub101 cohort! These live, online sessions are typically held annually in the spring, when open textbook publishing leaders discuss key topics and resources for an hour a week for 7 weeks.

OER - Iterative Development
"This module is designed to support single authors and project leads, with examples and check-ins tailored to your role. It helps participants create or adapt open textbooks by guiding them through the intentional, iterative writing process that defines sustainable, accessible, and equitable OER development. It introduces best practices for content development, including the responsible USE of AI tools, the creation of modular textbook structures, and the development of authoring templates and style guides."
MANIFOLD (documentation)
Manifold is an open-source publishing platform. It's responsive, accessible, customizable. With Manifold, you can publish materials you already produce or use it to build something new together with your colleagues and students.

OER Commons - MOBIUS Hub

OER Commons (OERC) is a collaborative platform for creating, storing, browsing, and curating OER Collections for higher education faculty.

Because St. Charles Community College has access to OER Commons through our statewide academic library consortium, MOBIUS, the college has a space to author, store, and share OER material.
